I wanted a hat band that wasn't leather. My leather hat band that came with my hat looked too formal. I wanted something more rugged looking. I was using Dr. Alan Grant from Jurassic park as my inspiration. I love his hat and hat band.

I have been wearing western stuff for years. Your website appealed to me. From the pictures, they were exactly the bands for my hats.
What made you begin thinking that you need to make a change?
Always need to keep things fresh. Of all the ways to make hat bands, I always liked horse hair best. I'll stick with it.
What does "right" look like to you?
When it catches my eye and makes me look twice, THAT IS "RIGHT"!.
When you think about this decision, what was your number-one concern?
Making two classic Stetson hats look more appealing.

I own five beautiful Stetsons and I have horse hair bands on all of them. These are the newest hats. These are the first ones I bought with two tassels. They look so much better than the bands they put on the hats!

Very good material. Workmanship is excellent. They really fit well with the style of the hats.
If you could add any feature to our product, what would it be?
One of my hats came with a hat pin,a small branding iron with JBS on it. I pinned it through the band into the hat. It is a little more secure. Also looks pretty good!

What made you want to try this product?
I saw this hatband when I was cruising through your website. I thought it interesting looking and a nice departure from the stock hatbands on hat, so purchased this just because I liked the look of it.
What do you think of the Appearance?
I think this is one of the "fancier" hatbands I have, but it is still not too blingy. I tried it out on a few hats and settled on placing it on a brown straw hat where it seems to fit right in with the style of hat perfectly.
What do you think of the Durability?
I hope this holds up well; being feathers, one cannot tell right away. If it holds up, I will be back for another to fit on hats I make up for others as gifts, etc.

The quality is excellent - I'm not exactly sure how the feathers are attached, but they look great.

It functions well as an upgrade to the cheesy hatbands that come with many (lower priced) hats. Perfect for customizing a western hat for a unique look.

What made you want to try this product?
This was not purchased for a specific hat, but will end up on one of my wool felt hats. Many of the less expensive hat come with a cheap (sometimes plastic) leather band, so I got this as a replacement band.
What do you think of the Appearance?
I got this band for the color, since most of my hats tend to be brown, acorn, mink, etc., so this is sort of a generic color for those hats.
What do you think of the Durability?
It is a band of leather. What could go wrong? Aside from scuffing the surface, I think it will hold up very well - probably better than any hat that it is on!

The quality is excellent - the tooling of the design is well defined, sharp, and has great relief.
What do you think of the Functionality?
I'm sure it will function well. I've had leather belts that lasted many, many years, so that is all I need it to do.

My addition would be to the website. Under "black and white" horse hair there are two pictures - one black with white and one basically white with black design. I prefered the white with black as the hat is dark - got the black with white.

You have very few horse hairs without tassels. Would have liked more choices, colors and widths. Also, I would have considered a "beach theme" ie coral or shells or polished stones.

I am fortunate to have suppliers that allow me to specify colors. Most do not. For the most part, the designs are chosen based on the volume of each color of hair on hand at the time of creation, However, when this order was placed, I had both designs on hand. A note in the PayPal checkout, an email or a phone call might have helped get what you wanted. Thank you for your other suggestions.

The width was just right for a man's wrist, not too thin or thick. The multi colored strands make a very high quality appearance.

I especially like a loop closure that makes adjusting the size easy. It is easy to take on and off compared to a lobster clasp.

It is obviously the work of a seasoned artisan. Beautiful continuity of tension and geometric symmetry.

It appears to be as durable as horse hair can allow. I would assume that over time, the band will require protection from moths and other ravenous pests.

It is unquestionably made of quality horse hair and rendered with professional technique.

I stitched this braided band onto my hemp braid hat. The horse hair reinforces the shape, fit and rigidness of my hat, which will also serve to help keep my hat on my head in the wind. My hat is a real hat since I removed the cloth band and put on your utilitarian work of art.

It's the Clothes moth larvae, rather than the adult moths that are the culprits when it comes to damaging clothing and soft furnishings. Fibres containing wool are most commonly attacked, but hair and feathers are also attractive food stuffs. Coarse hair, such as horse hair, may not be so readily attacked as the moth larvae prefer finer pet or human hair.
